England vs Australia: Buttler’s Injury Forces Salt to Lead England in T20 Series

England’s white-ball captain, Jos Buttler, has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match T20 series against Australia due to a calf injury. This setback will force Phil Salt to lead the side in his absence. Buttler, who was also a key player in the recent T20 World Cup, is now a doubt for the subsequent five-match ODI series.

To fill the void left by Buttler, Surrey all-rounder Jamie Overton has been added to the T20 squad. Meanwhile, Essex batter Jordan Cox, who was already part of the T20 squad, has been included in the ODI group as a cover option.

With Buttler’s absence, the wicketkeeping duties for the T20 series will likely be shared between Salt and Cox. In the ODI series, England may opt to hand Jamie Smith the gloves, as the Test wicketkeeper is expected to join the squad for those matches.
